Jake Montoya is the Director of Athletic and Jazz Bands at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas. He was previously Director of Bands at Lakewood Middle School and was the Assistant Director of Bands at Central High School where he led the Mustangs drumline for 10 years. Prior to Lakewood and Central, he was the 5th-12th grade instrumental instructor for the Solomon School District for 8 years. Mr. Montoya has held various other roles including conductor of the Salina Junior Youth Symphony Wind Ensemble in 2005, has taken part in the pit at Salina Community Theatre, performed with the 2005 Flatlanders Jazz Band, has had the honor of playing for Les Lankhorst, was lead guitar of the NINE:50 Praise Band at Trinity United Methodist Church for 12 years, and spent countless hours practicing and performing with his country-rock band, Split Decision, who frequented the stage at the Smoky Hill River Festival Jam numerous years.
